Search Assistance: Last sales activity by category or item:class?

Has anyone had any luck on creating a saved search or report that shows last sales activity by category or item:class?

I have a consumable item called "Seals", i would like to run a report to show the last activity for that item by each customer.

Any assistance would be welcome
