Report of Sale cycle success

We are trying to produce a report that shows the sale cycle stages and the response rate starting with the Marketing campaign.  Although we do have the stage “Prospect” we are not using it.  We are currently keeping the sales activities in custom fields within NetSuite under the tab “sales” or within the “activity” section of communication.
What I would like to know
• Should we go back and add additional stages. Will this make reporting easier?
• Could we produce the attached report using the custom fields we already built?
The report would be a count/percentage of responses in the order of
