Retrive the selected value of list/Record(Customfield)

Hi All,

   We have created a custom field named as ItemStatus of the  type list/record ,and we have given few  values (like GOOD,BAD,APPROVED) to that list.While entering values into the form we have selected one of the value from that list(through UI). While trying to get the selected value of the list (customfiled - ItemStatus)  through  webservices(2.5) we are able to get the internalid of the selected item but not the value(GOOD).

Can you help me out  how to get the value of a list(custom field) ..pls
