Can customer.stage be set on creation?

Hi there,

I am attempting to add a new Lead using web services.

However it seems you cannot specify the customer stage....

i.e.

customer.stage = CustomerStage._lead;

I get the message...


You do not have permissions to set a value for element stage due to one of the following reasons: 1) The field is read-only; 2) An associated feature is disabled; 3) The field is available either when a record is created or updated, but not in both cases.



How is it possible to add a new Lead?
