Asynchronous Searches

Does anyone out there have any info on getting async searches to work via Webservices?  The doumentation is grossly inadequate. My problem is right now, once you read a page from a completed query it will not let you read the page again. If you try to read a page again, it tells you you submitted an invalid job id.  So, I must be missing something, because we know it can't be a bug..
