NetSuite calling 3rd party Web Services

We are going to build a software integrated to NetSuite via SuiteTalk (the NetSuite Web Services). Doing that we'll have a one way communication of all the time calling the NS WS and performing particular tasks. However I wonder whether there could be a two way communicaiton process i.e. when NS can call our software WS when a particular event within NS happens. Is this possible and how?
