Sales Rep Automatically Updated?

I have noticed an interesting thing that when I push in sales orders with no sales rep through web services, the customer record is automatically updated to reflect the webservice login, if they are a sales rep, as the sales rep for that customer.  Is anyone experiencing this behavior and if see is it a system setting that I can turn off?
