Search for Customer's alt email

Is there any way to use the search method (or any other method) to search for a customer based on the alt. email field?  I got the main email field search working fine.  Just need the alt email search.

PS - I just realized that my title might be a little misleading.  I need to search for a customer on the alt email field.  I'm NOT looking for a customer's alt email.  Make sense?
