NS Integration w/other Applications-Good, Bad, and Ugly

We are considering scenarios to our Business Process that may include using some other applications outside of Netsuite to manage our business.  

I would like to hear from other users regarding their experience integrating Netsuite with other applications rather than using them as separate stand alone applications.  

Specifically, I would like to know The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.  

Also, what questions should we ask as we consider this process?   Are there tools or technology available to facilitate the integration.   I note Salesforce highlights AppExchange so wondering if something similar exists for Netsuite.   I'm sort of a novice in this area so would appreciate any insights users may have.
