Search for a Custom Field=NULL

I am trying to search for transaction records where a custom body field type "List/Record" is either null or 1.

Would anyone have a code snippet that shows how to search for transaction records where a custom body field type "List/Record" is null or 1?

I have figured out how to search for custom body field = 1 but I cannot get the null figured out.
