Custom SearchDate

Is it possible to create custom SearchDate objects for creating search requests using Java?

I am trying to query for customers whose last modified date is on a specific date in the past. I am able to search using the predefined values ('lastWeek', 'twoDaysAgo', etc.), but I cannot figure out how to create a custom SearchDate object.

This probably really simple, but I'm hitting a wall here.
