search results total records limit?

According to the docs, there is a limit to the total number of records returned by a suitescript search using nlapiSearchRecord. (limit=1000)
But I can't find anything that indicates there's a limit for suitetalk search.
Is there one?
(I know there's a limit to page size; 500/1000 for peak/off-peak)
