Downloadable Item

When adding Files to a Downloadable Item, after some customers have purchased the Downloadable Item, how can these new files show up under the My Downloads section of the Customer Center? Now it appears each Customer's record needs to be updated with the new Files they can view, instead of updating automatically (all customers' records who purchased the Downloadable Item) when Files are added to a Downloadable Item. Is there a fix / workaround for this?
