Ready to go live- Need advice on transfering domain name

Hello,
I am looking for some advice on the do's and dont's when pointing our Domain name from our old site to our new netsuite site.

Our old site has pretty good page rankings and we would like to make this switch as smoothly as possible without loosing all our S- engine rankings . I expect to loose some ground but would like to minimize the drop off as much as possible if at all posssible.
