Custom field for an Item

Folks,

I would like to add a custom field to an Item but NOT as Matrix. (i.e. where did you see this? question  only for one Item)


I tried and went through all steps, the list is there but it's empty. I have created the list,  custom item field and transaction item options. It shows all my options over there, and I add that list when I customized the Item. Every thing is set but still  I do not get the list . It shows the box but it's empty in my store.
