HTML templates in Netsuite & UTF-8 character set

Here is a seemingly important piece of information about HTML template in Netsuite, that has been bugging me for a while and does not seem to be well documented.

Hi Andrew,
What I mean by that is if you have a meta tag in the HTML that is defining the character set to be anything besides UTF-8 in the document, you may come across this problem as well. NetSuite is very strict to the UTF-8 compliancy. Here is an example of the META tag we would like to see in the head section of a netsuite HTML page:
