changes to passing promocode via url

in Web Site / E-Commerce

Something has changed...

If someone comes through a link such as www.yourdomain.com/products?promocode=xxxxx I used to be able to reference that promocode by calling the cookie value it was stored in. Now this only works on https pages like checkout.

Why is it so?
