Restricting a product from users in one state

Here's one for you all. 

I have a couple products that can't be sold in one state and don't want to display it to customers in that state.

I am not going to do anything fancy and check IP addresses, but they do have to log in before they order.  There account already has the state.   Once they login, I would like to exclude the product from the store.

Anyone ever do this?
