Webstore dynamic shipping cost calculation

Hey guys.

We have a need to configure calculation of shipping cost based on items users select.

It's unique in a sense that each product they purchase is shipped to multiple address. So one way we are handling is to allow user to pick shipping option (local or international) and charge per item.

The issue is, people can purchase mix of items, say local as well as international.

I'd like to be able to calculate the shipping cost based on number of items as well as item option for each.

Is this possible?
