Spry Menu's drop down menus not working in Chrome

I started setting up some drop down menus on our staging site, I reused the spry menus from a previous consultant.  Worked great in IE but of course the drop downs did not work in Chrome.

Did a quick search before leaving last night and this was a known issue.   The basic jist was Chrome was better than IE .... blah, blah, blah....

Before I spend much time even troubleshooting this, should I abandon ship and go with something else…. something tells me the issue might be related to this wonderful thread
