Scriptable Checkout examples

We are needing some of the functionality that scriptable checkout is supposed to provide. I found the few examples in the help docs and need a somewhat hybrid of them. I don't think our situation is extremely difficult.

We would like to add an item to the cart with a price of free if the order is over $100. I watched the video of dynamic messaging which has the threshold trigger. There is also Buy One Get One and Dynamic Discounts which both use coupon codes. I would rather not use coupon codes if possible but can if I need to. I am trying to combine these scripts but don't want to mess anything up.
