Identifying Residential Addresses

Can anyone using Fedex integration explain how to automatically determine if a ecommerce customer's shipping address is "Residential"?  Since FedEx has different shipping items (Ground vs Home Delivery), it seems essential to determine which type of address it is before completing sale.
