Clear CC Authorization

Does anyone know if its possible to remove the authorization requirement for checkout on a per-order basis? I've tried using SuiteScript to clear the 'getauth' checkbox in both Scriptable cart (save record) and a user event script (before submit) and both times the card on the order was still authorized.
