Removing <NLCOLUMNCONTENTS> tabs

http://www.ecbsa.co.za/. I have tried everything and cant seem to get rid of that sidbar menu that lists all the TABS under the shopping basket. I need <NLCOLUMNCONTENTS> there because once you logged in i need it to show the "SETTINGS" portlet. How do i remove that menu list on the left below the shopping basket? I tried unticking "Show Navigation Portlet". But it still shows it on the left, and it only appears on the home page. All other pages it dissapears. So this makes no sense to me. Please, any help appreciated.
