Display Sale Price without Currency Sign in front, Only Numeric Value

As technology advances we need to create meta tags for our website that require to provide the cost of a product in numeric values only, for example, the Open Graph tag "product_ price:amount"

I tried <%=getCurrentAttribute('item','salesprice')%>, <%=getCurrentAttribute('item','pricelevel1')%> but they all provide the cost of the item with the currency sign.

Is there a way to display just the numeric value? Thanks
