Transitioning to FREE shipping

We're thinking through the process to transitioning to FREE shipping and we've got two questions.

1. Is it worth it? Did your items sell better after switching? Only downside: We'll increase our prices, so our items won't look as cheap in some online "price lists" that don't mention our free shipping.

2. Here is the incremental process we're considering...

[*]Update prices one item category at a time.
[*]Set items with updated prices to "shipping weight = 0".
[*]Add "free shipping" icon to updated items
