Case history

I did not see anyway in the case management to maintain a threaded case history. The only thing I see is system notes which really don't provide a good indication of the case.

I'm looking for a way for support people new to a case to be able to look at a case history which contains the entire discussion to-date:

Date-time
Updated by: customer | agent
Action: attached file | internal note | replied to customer | received from customer, etc
Message:

Previous Date-time
Updated by: customer | agent
Action:
Message:

and so on

Is this available and I just don't see it (common among most support systems), or has someone built something similar that can offer the architecture?
