Duplicate Records

We have some duplicate records in our NS account. However, we have decided to only manage those on an exception basis. Is there a simple method to de-dup or remove duplicates and merge with another record simply by tagging the two we want to work with and running it? To run such a process on the entire database would probably take too long. Is there something I'm missing?
