VAT EC Sales online submission errors

edited Dec 6, 2019 2:08PM in General 5 comments

The EC Sales report in Netsuite is erroneous. It produces a CSV file that is formatted incorrectly for submission to the HMRC.

Basically, the CSV file is formed in "number" format - when it should be formed from Netsuite in "text" format.

The consequence is that "000" appears as "0" and a VAT number like "01234567" appears wrongly as "1234567" or even worse as a scientific number.

The upshot is that you cannot submit the form online from Netsuite without receiving a "failure" message and if you try to downlooad the CSV file and upload it as a "bulk upload" on the HMRC site - you will encounter many format errors meaning hours of manual corrections.

Howdy, Stranger!
