Check Printing Translations Incorrect

We just filed this defect for one of our international customers:

Defect 156318 - Transactions > Management > Print Checks and form > Checks: Local Currency is Mexican Peso , Bank Account Language is Spanish: Amount written on check is "dolares" instead of "peso"

How are customers in Latin American countries dealing with this issue? Have you found a workaround?
