Moving G/L # from One Report Section to Another

Another Question - While working on my Balance Sheet revision this morning, there is one COA # that is showing up in my Other Assets section rather than my Current Assets section, where it was previously.  I have gone back to the COA list to change the designation on the report and it is listing correctly but I've also read that those fields effect the old financials only. HELP! I can't find any clear answer to this in the Help section... any guidance would be much appreciated!
