Inventory Management

Does anyone know how to reduce the level of inventory NS suggests needs ordering? I have tried all the "Inventory Management Preferences" under "Setup" but cannot find how to scale back the sheer volume of inventory it is auto calculating. I have received a "DEFECT" notice from NS but no clear indication of what is going on to resolve this? I have spent 3 years "trialling" various ways only to end up proving the product does not work as suggested in all the help screens. If anyone has some workarounds (other than manual entry of min/max levels) I would truly
