Applying credits to Cash Sales?

Has anyone found a work around on how to apply a credit memo to a cash sale? 

Basically we have customers that are cash only/Credit Card.  Once and a while we take returns and would like to have this return sit as credit for our customers.  Then when they place an order on our site we would like them to have the availability to apply their credits to that order.  Any suggestions?

I called NetSuite and they said it was not possible.  The enhancement is #88777.
