Importing online bank statement

in Accounting / ERP

I have just imported a .qif file for our online bank statement.  The file imported okay but I notice that a new cash account was created in my chart of accounts. I was wondering if this is what is supposed to happen or is there something in the .qif file that needs to be edited before importing it.  The new account has no transactions.  If I delete the account then the online bank statement is deleted also.  Is this account just temporary until all of the unmatched transactions are accounted for?  Netsuite phone support did not have an answer.
