Paying US Vendors from Canadian account - possible bug

We are a canadian company, and we have US vendors.  I've set up the vendor's currency to be USD, but when I attempt to pay them from a CDN bank account, the bank balance is updated by the appropriate CDN amount but the check that's printed is for the USD amount. 

Is there a setting I'm missing, or is this a bug?
