Posting Period Weirdness

An employee made some entries posted Oct 31…they showed up in Nov profit/loss statements…he then did an edit on them and changed the date to Oct 25 and it went to Oct profit/loss stmt…would this be telling me that a month with 31 days, the 31st goes to the next month?

Has anyone else seen this?
