financials 2007

I didn't realize until just now that my accounting periods for 2007 had not been set up.  I set them up.  Now when I try to generate for example an Income Statement for 1/1/07 to 1/31/07, I get "There is no data available for the date/period range selected."  When I go into my Sales Register, there is certainly sales data there for the past month, so I can't figure out why I can't now generate an Income Statement for Jan 2007?
