Service dates in item description?

We use Small Business Edition, and most of our customers buy some form of monthly recurring service from us. So far, I've only been putting in memorized transactions for each customer, reminding me, then hand entering them and editing them to show the service dates for the item each month, but as we've grown this has become a LARGE task.

I'd like to have the description be something like:

  Consulting Contract - Service from 9/1 - 9/31

And each time the invoice gets entered it updates the service dates.. Any way to do this? Thanks in advance..
