Sales tax reports to tie to returns
I have issues with my sales tax reports, they don't add up correctly the "sales" column does not reflect true sales. It is pulled from the subtotal of an invoice, so if you have items that really aren't pointing to revenue accounts it still includes them so you can never tie-out to your income statement.
Also freight is not included in this amount so you cannot accurately determine the true taxable sale value and establish that it has correctly been extended to the appropriate tax value.
How does one then report the volume of taxable sales to the taxing agency?
