Import Inventory Item G/L accounts?

I have about 5,000 items in my inventory.  I updated all 3 G/L accounts on about 1,000 of the items using a CSV import.  The CSV import ran successfully with 0 errors.  The G/L accounts are updated on the Inventory Items when you look at the item maintenance screens.  Here is the problem:  The financial statements were not updated to reflect the G/L account updates on the inventory items.  I thought when you changed the G/L accounts on an inventory item, it update the transactions in history.  The transactions were not updated in this case.  Is there anything that I
