International VAT / Tax

Is it possible to charge different VAT / Tax rates depending on the location? We are currently based in the UK and we are hoping to open a new office in the US. The company will still be the same just a different location. At the moment we charge the UK VAT rate which is currently 17.5% but i know that tax rates are different in the US. I hope someone can help.
