Extra Decimal Places on Custom Sourced Field

We have a field called "Cost" that is a custom transaction column field. This field is sourced from the preferred vendor's price. The field is of type currency. When viewing our transactions, there are scenarios where our cost per unit is under 1 cent. It rounds these values to 0.01. Is there any way to increase the number of decimal places? Any help is greatly appreciated.
