where to find over paid GST payment
When we issue a invoice, say $1100 (include $100 GST). GL 21201 Gst Collected is added $100, we pay Tax Office $100 (pay quarterly).
When we receive the payment from the customer (may be one month or two month later), the customer pay us $990 because he has 10% settlement discount. He only paid $90 GST. (Most of our customers have settlement discount.)
Now, how does my accountant claim the extra $10 GST he pays to Tax Office? Where can we find the total GST we over paid?
In MYOB (Australian account software), when the payment is entered, it will add the $10 to "Gst Paid" GL. We can ask Tax Office pay "Gst Paid" back to us.
