Adjust inventory for Assembly items.

If I want to make adjustments to the assembly, what do I do first?

Adjust members' item then Adjust Assembly item or can I adjust the Assembly then go into the member and adjust them or do them all together?
Each Assembly has members and members have sub members too..so, do I need to adjust everything and build them again?
