Parent Child Accounting Integrity

We use the parent child relationship with all of our customers.  Is there not a way to alter the parent child relationship without throwing off the accounting integrity? 

By altering the relationship I mean take a child of parent A and move it under Parent B.

The reason for this.  Parent B has purchased specific locations of Parent A.
