Sales tax Payable account- does not match
Hello All,
it seems that the sales tax payable amount does not match the actual tax that was paid to the various state authorities after year end.
When looking at the Sales Tax Liability by Tax Item, for the period ending 12/31/08, some of my tax due amounts (for the period in question) does not match what was paid for that period but in 2009 (it is less)
COuld it be due to credit memos? When giving a refund to the customer, how to make sure that the sales tax payable account is updated on the credit memo date and not on the period for which the sales correspond. That credit memo should cause a credit on the next period sales tax report.
