Giving away product for promo, not sure how to enter it in Netsuite

We have team riders that we sponsor and we give them free product in exchange for them promoting us.  In the past I have created a Sales Order and made the items $0.00, so it takes the product out of inventory but doesn't affect Sales.  However I would like to track the cost of products I give away per team rider for the year.  How can I do this?

Any help would be appreciated!
