Item entry templates?

in Accounting / ERP

I've searched high and low for any templates that we could create when entering a new item. We have many different types of items and each have their own set of selections that are common to each. It would be easier to create a template to ensure that certain fields are created properly with pre-filled fields depending on what you select.

Is there a way to do this without scripts?
