Service Items in Assemblies rolling into Cogs
We use assemblies in house to track the progression of internal production.
At a certain point in production a part, either an inventory Item or Assembly Item, is sent out to be Powder Coated/Painted. Then this item is brought back into our facility for further processing, IE added to another assembly showing the item in question along with the specific Service Item.
That assembly then gets added to a finished goods assembly when packaged.
We have used both Service Items for Purchase and for Resale to account for this powdercoating process. This allows us to add the service Item to the PO to the outside vendore to allow us to track what has been sent and individual costs. We have a different service item for coating each specific part.
