Discrepancies in lot numbered inventory item

Hi members, I am sravan.
We have a lot numbered inventory item, whose Physical stocks on hand is ZERO as shown in "Bin Numbers" while it was showing 3,000pcs under "Locations".The actual physical quantity on hand should reflect ZERO (both in "Locations" and "Bin Numbers").
We found mainly this is due to a credit memo which is created from an invoice.
But my doubt is credit memeo will not affect the inventory.
So i want to know why its showing different value in bin numbers and locations.
